In The Beginning: Creating a Business

At the start of any blogging journey, it is only appropriate to mention, "Hello world!"

Some items in life have cropped up lately, and as a result, I am changing my entire photography focus away from newborns and instead towards a different kind of love -- couples and all of the celebrations that accompany them -- first kiss; engagements; holidays; anniversaries, and, my dream of all dreams (basically, my absolute fav to photograph) -- weddings of all shapes and sizes.  This means that I am branching out on my own -- leaving the security of working for someone else's studio and clients being fed to me... but my work belonging to the studio at the end of the day rather than to myself.  And I'd like for that to change!  It's a little bit scary, but I'm also super excited... a new adventure, and one that is aimed at focusing on what I most love photographing!

This image (which I am using as my flagship image while starting out) represents what I most adore in a couple -- fun, joyful, and totally in love:

It's that feeling I try to keep with me now.  The nerves, the excitement, the joy!  And I hope to grow my little sapling of a business into a lovely, blooming tree as I keep this feeling, this memory, with me.

For those of you who have traveled on parts of my life's journey, I appreciate all of the love and support you've given me -- and I hope you'll help me out by spreading the word and sending me cool, groovy couples and individuals to work with!  Looking forward to the next stage in my photography life...
